Study @ Home

How does it work                                   

The Study@Home packet will arrive by the 5^th of each month. It shall contain a cover page listing the concepts being introduced and relevant worksheets. Some practice activities may also be suggested. These are optional. 

Keeping aside 15-30mins for each worksheet with an additional day for practice every week, is all that it takes to go through the program. You’ll need a pencil, eraser, color pencils and rough paper handy while doing the program. Color pencils are suggested in preference to markers/crayons as using color pencils is not only a fun way to prepare tiny hands for future writing skills, it also makes it easy for children to edit their work. In addition, it is suggested that you buy a grade appropriate Handwriting practice book for the practice sessions.

Ø     Reading supplement is an advanced module that builds on the Pre-K program. It is for children who are Beginning/Emergent readers. This module is available only in conjunction with the Pre-K module for pre-schoolers.

1. For whom is this program a good choice?

If you fall into any of the following categories, you can be sure you’ve made the right choice.

• You like to be involved with the education of your child.

• Your child is ready to be challenged. He/she is already familiar or is gaining familiarity with the basic concepts like colors, shapes etc.

• You feel that reputed traditional programs and learning centers are expensive considering that your child is still quite young.

The program covers grade appropriate curriculum. All questions/activities have been developed based on Early Learning standards. Topics covered include:

4. Why do I need this program when I can do fine with a Workbook?   Sample Questions Pre K

• This program has well researched and challenging questions. These questions test the student’s conceptual understanding from several perspectives.

• Many questions require the child to follow 2 or more step directions which itself is challenging.

• The program will help you better identify areas that need more practice.

• The mix of questions keep the interest levels high.

• The monthly packet of Worksheets will keep the motivation and interest of the child.

5. Why should I buy a Handwriting practice book even though I’m doing this program?

• Handwriting improves through practice. Handwriting books show the correct way to write and provide adequate space for practice. It is more productive for the program worksheets to focus on introducing and reviewing concepts, than use the space to practice writing.

6. What is the Adult’s level of involvement?

• The success of this program depends significantly on your involvement.
• You need to sit with the child and go through the concepts being introduced for the month. Read each question to the child and explain to them for better understanding. Help the child answer the questions. Encourage the child to focus on what needs to be done. Eg. Circle, Draw an X, Color the right answer etc. These simple steps will go a long way in building attention to detail. After the worksheet is completed, mark the areas for review in the Practice session.
• Encourage the child to practice Handwriting skills after completing the Worksheet and/during Practice sessions. Making alphabets in a sand-tray, using shaving cream to write, using a white-board in place and set to write are other fun ways which you could try out during the practice session.

8. Why don't you have a monthly payment plan?

The payment frequency is limited to reduce the number of transactions for processing.

9. Is there a discount for Onetime (advance) payments?

Yes,  you're eligible to get free additional worksheets in months 4-6.

Yes, you will be refunded.

• If you've paid in advance and you elect to discontinue, you need to inform in writing before the 15th of the month. You will then be be refunded your payments pro-rata from the next month assuming a monthly payment plan. In the month you inform, no reimbursement will be due. 12. I'm not sure if my child will be able to cope with the fast-track program. What should I do?

You can start with the regular program. If you feel your child is able to finish the worksheets fast and would be happy to do more, write to us by the 15th of the month. You'll be put onto the fast-track program from the next month. This change can easily be effected.
