My finger puppet theatre

Single A small theatre to put on one’s own show Shoe-box, glue, scissors, finger puppets,  construction paper of different colours for inside of theatre, tape, etc., sharp knife or box cutter, thin paper for curtain.
  1. Cut the back of the cardboard box leaving 3 inches distance from the edge.
  2. Make a backdrop for the theatre. Eg. Sky, grass, mountains, trees etc. Use crayons, stickers, construction paper etc. whatever you like. Place the trees, grass etc. inside the box thereby giving a 3D effect.
  3. Place the box on a table so the back of the box hangs at the edge of the table.
  4. Kids can wear finger puppets and put on their own show.
  5. You can hang thin rice paper from the top for a curtain. Glue/tape it on the top.
  6. Lift the curtain and Theatre time starts!

Backdrop puppet theatre

Single A small theatre to put on one’s own show Shoe-box, glue, scissors, stickers/pictures of animals or characters for puppets, construction paper of different colours for backdrop, tape, craft sticks etc., sharp knife or box cutter
  1. Make a backdrop for the theatre. Eg. Sky, grass, mountains, trees etc. Use crayons, stickers, construction paper etc. whatever you like. 
  2. Make puppet cutouts using pictures or stickers. Glue each cut-out onto one end of the craft stick.
  3. Turn the cardboard box on its side with the opening facing you. Cut a narrow slit along the box's bottom with a sharp knife or box cutter near the front of the box. The slit should be about 1 inch wide and stop about 1 inch from either side of the box.
  4. Place the box on a table so the slit hangs over the table.
  5. Kids can slide the puppets up through the slit and put on their own show.
  6. Draw a curtain for each side of the theatre on construction paper and cut it. Glue/tape it on the side and top.
  7. Theatre time starts!
 

Spider’s web

Single Spider in the web or hang down spider Black paper plate, grey construction paper, google eyes, markers, white wool, scissors, glue
  1. Take a black paper plate.
  2. Cut small lines on the edges of the plate.
  3. Staple one end of the wool onto the under side of the plate. Weave the remaining wool into a web through the cuts on the plate.
  4. Cut 2 equal circles (5inches in diameter) from construction paper.
  5. Make the face of the spider with one circle by sticking google eyes and drawing a mouth.
  6. Take 3 pieces of pipe-cleaner for legs. Place them on the plain circle ensuring that they protrude out equally from both sides (they are the legs). Place the other end of the wool on it as well.
  7. Paste the circle with the spider’s face, onto the lower circle.
  8. The spider in its web is ready. You can also make the spider hang down by removing the wool from the slots made around the edge of the plate.
 

Lacing the shoe

  1. Hold the cup upside down. Draw two vertical lines an inch apart.
  2. Run the scissors along the lines to cut out the flap.
  3. Punch the cup along vertical lines making 5 rows on each side.
  4. Number the holes. Now the child can follow the number sequence for lacing.

 

 

Amber brown

Single Making the character Amber Brown

Coffee tin, brown color   yarn, glue, pearl onion bag (Net), marker,Construction paper (beige)

 
  1. Cut open the pearl onion bag to make a rectangle piece of net.
  2. The net should be little bigger than the tin’s length.
  3. Cut yarn into pieces of double the length of tin, 4 times the length of tin and some pieces for running stitch
  4. Weaving: the net has two sides (front and back).   Take yarn pieces which are double the length of tin, start weaving from the top.  Each piece starts from front side of the net leaving same length as tin and come out of the next hole of the row with remaining yarn
  5. Ccontinue weaving two rows from top. Do the same with the longer yarns (4 times the length as tin) two rows from bottom of the net. Rest (center) of the net, just weave a running stitch with the yarn to cover the net.
 

Jaguar

Single Jaguar with household material Empty Mazola oil tin (5Qt), 4 small water bottles (8oz), news paper, yellow and black craft paper, marker, sticky tape
  1. Cover the oil can, water bottles with news paper and with sticky tape put together oil can as body and 4 bottles as legs.
  2. Make a ball with news paper leaving a column for neck.  Roll news paper into long tail.  Using sticky tape put everything together (head, body and tail)
  3. Cover this with yellow craft paper and glue pieces of black paper all over them.
  4. Cut thin strips of paper to make whiskers and glue them on the face.  Draws eyes on yellow paper and cut them out. Glue them on face and with crayons and markers draw nose and mouth.
